First of all, I own a lot of grocery bags and the largest share are standard brown bag dimensions, except shorter. We've been used to looking down into a grocery bag and seeing that same-sized space available for filling, over and over, year after year. These bags are wider but narrower. So they seemed odd. BTW, they are also taller than my other cloth bags but the same height as brown paper grocery bags.
But then I started loading one of these new bags and convenient things started to happen. Two large boxes of cereal fit the width exactly. The long skinny aluminum foil roll stands in there and doesn't stick out the top. 6-packs of cans are a little wider than the bag's bottom, but sit right on in there anyway. I actually fit more into these bags because of that, and when I don't fill them to the brim the snap actally stays snapped and prevents spillage if tipped.
I used these for packing for a beach trip and it is so HANDY carrying everything into the house when there are handles! Plus, loading the car is a breeze when there are scads of uniformly-sized bags that fill up the back of the car so neatly and without wasted space.
I did the same thing last year with different bags, and they were split at the seams and ragged at the end of the return trip. THESE bags were ALL like new. Not one split. I love'em! The handles are just right. They're substantial enough, long enough, and very well-attached.
The material they're made of doesn't seem any better than my older ones, but there was apparently no skimping on material at the seams. They are holding well, and I REALLY appreciate that. I think I paid about a dollar and a quarter each for these. What a steal.
I also purchased these bags in plaid. They are great-looking and I love them too!

While the bags are good quality, and the snap closure is a bonus, the handles fall short.. literally. They are pictured as long handles as if you could throw the bag over your shoulder easily, but that is not really the case. The handles are shorter than expected which leaves me debating whether to be keep the bags or return them because I'm not sure i'll get much use out of them without a longer handle..

You can wash these bags and they still look great. Guilt free, high class shopping. I use them for everything.
